Solventless can be defined as a group of Separation and Extaction methods that do not
utilize any kind of solvents but simply water, agitation, sieving, heat and pressure.
Although some might argue that water can be a solvent in itself or contain some traces, the use of a proper RO (Reverse Osmosis) system can remove most if not all residual solvents from the water, thus preventing any kind of solubilisation of the precious terpenes while the material is submerged.
Solventless could be divided in three groups; Separation, Extraction and Transformation.
Separation; Action of detaching the trichomes from the flower, can be either done by dry sifting or agitating in ice cold water and sieving.
Extraction; Action of extracting the oil from the trichome glands, can be done by using Heat, proper pressure and specific micron filter bags.
Transformation; Action of transforming and/or mixing different materials into a new product. (Rosin Curing, Hash curing/ageing, transforming loose resin into hash ((bricks or temple balls)) using very low heat and pressure)
